Efficient Lawn Care Treatment for Crabgrass Infestation

A two application post-emergent program is required to control this unwanted plant in your lawn. Results are best when combined with a pre-emergent application (already included in our Evergreen Lawn Program in the spring).

In order to maintain a high-quality lawn, we feel it is necessary to treat crabgrass. Further damage to your lawn can be prevented if treated properly and quickly.

What Is Crabgrass and How Did it Get in My Lawn?

Crabgrass is an annual grassy weed with the scientific name: Digitaria. These grassy weeds are tough, aggressive plants that thrive on stressed and poorly maintained areas of your yard. (Edges, curbs, next to driveways, bare areas, etc..)

The good news is that they are annual plants, which means that they will die when frost and cold weather comes in during the fall and winter seasons. The bad news is any one crabgrass plant, that germinates in the spring and grows into the fall, can spread up to 150,000 seeds during that growing season. Because of this, you need to prevent as many of these seeds from germinating the following year as possible. Preventing crabgrass becomes a 2-3 year process including pre-emergent and post- emergent applications. After that if you apply a pre-emergent in the spring you should be able to control almost all crabgrass in your lawn.
